You know her from Chuck, you know her from Dexter and now Yvonne Strahovski is starring in a new film with Adrien Brody: Manhattan Night. Plus she loves the beach, but hated the water? How did Yvonne Strahovski lose that fear?

Manhattan Night  •  By  •  0 Comments

Based on Colin Harrison’s acclaimed novel Manhattan Nocturne (a New York Times Notable Book of the Year), MANHATTAN NIGHT tells the story of Porter Wren (Adrien Brody), a New York City tabloid writer with an appetite for scandal. On the beat he sells murder, tragedy and anything that passes for the truth. At home he is a model family man, devoted to his loving wife (Jennifer Beals).

But when a seductive stranger (Yvonne Strahovski) asks him to dig into the unsolved murder of her filmmaker husband Simon (Campbell Scott), he can’t resist. In this modern version of a classic film noir, we follow Porter as he is drawn into a very nasty case of sexual obsession and blackmail – one that threatens his job, his marriage, and his life.

MANHATTAN NIGHT will be released by Lionsgate Premiere in theaters and On Demand May 20, 2016. Lionsgate Premiere, Grindstone Entertainment Group and 13 Films present in association with Sparkle Roll Media Corporation and Big Indie Pictures a production of Fable House, Untravelled Worlds and DeCubellis Films.

Yvonne is looking very sexy in next month’s issue of GQ Australia. Be sure to download the new issue to read the full interview.

Yvonne Stryker. It’s the kind of name that would have a porn star blushing. It’s also the stage name suggested to Australian actress Yvonne Strahovski on landing in LA a few years back. She was an attractive, leggy and wide-eyed newcomer; she wasn’t, however, an easily-moulded starlet.

“Look, at the end of the day it was my call,” she tells GQ. “And I understood the reasoning behind it – the spelling of my name is a mouthful of letters.”

That original Polish grammatical jumble reads: Strzechowski.

“So I have the same last name – but now it’s spelt phonetically, so people know how to pronounce it.”

Regardless, hers is a name on the move. While she left these shores in 2007 with little more than some commercial work (razors, Pepsi, A4 paper) and face time opposite Rachael Taylor in failed Seven drama Headland, Strahovski was soon co-starring in US series Chuck. Created by The OC’s Josh Schwartz, the goofy spy spoof provided a prime-time entrance to American TV.

“I’m forever grateful for that job and I made a name for myself over there with that show, but it was hard because of the hours. It would have been nice to have received a warning about how involved it is to shoot a network show… yeah, it’s very involved.”

That’s not a complaint, far from it – the 32-year-old’s simply a straight shooter. She’s also a self-professed “nerd” – one who embraced education, including enforced Polish lessons every Saturday.

“It’s my first language and we speak it at home. I was a goody two shoes – a straight-A girl, and I took pride in my studies.”

'Astronaut Wives Club', Articles, News & Rumors  •  By  •  0 Comments

With the future of the “24” franchise — and her role as Jack Bauer’s latest trusty sidekick — in limbo, Yvonne Strahovski has gone back to the past in more ways than one with her new gig, playing one of the title roles in ABC’s “Astronaut Wives” club, written and executive produced by Stephanie Savage, and by “Chuck” co-creator Josh Schwartz.

Based on the best-selling book by Lily Koppel, “Astronaut Wives Club” tells the story of the women behind NASA’s early astronauts, and how they deal with being catapulted into national celebrity overnight even as their husbands are preparing to be launched into orbit.

Strahovski will play Rene Carpenter, wife of Mercury astronaut Scott Carpenter. The press notes suggest that “Her modern attitudes are source of both conflict and courage for the other Astrowives. Over time, Rene finds her own voice and awakens to a higher calling in politics, civil rights and women’s issues.” She joins a cast that already includes JoAnna Garcia Swisher as Betty Grissom and Odette Annable as Trudy Cooper.

Since “Chuck” ended, Strahovski wasn’t always well-served on “Dexter” as serial killer Hannah McKay, while “24: Live Another Day” essentially used her as a humorless (but still very effective) spin on Sarah Walker. This is a different kind of character for her, with no inherent action or suspense component. Then again, maybe the best performance she’s given in the last few years was her guest stint on “Louie,” where she played a supermodel whose father was… an astronaut.

As a fan of her work and an early NASA buff, I’m very intrigued by this casting.

What does everybody else think? You going to check out “Astronaut Wives Club” when it debuts sometime at mid-season, or would you rather see Strahovski find some way to stay in the spy world?
